About Gloucester Publishers
We are a group of dedicated people who understand not only magazine publishing, but also the field of historic architecture and period design. We've been at it for years! Editor-in-chief Patricia Poore is the former owner and long-time editor of Old-House Journal, the original restoration magazine; her tenure goes back to the 1970s brownstone revival. Teaming up with publisher Bill O’Donnell in 1987, she launched the critically acclaimed environmental magazine GARBAGE in 1989, and Old-House Interiors in 1995. The Design Center Sourcebook was first published in 2002. Arts & Crafts Homes officially debuted in 2006.
In 1988 and 1991, the company completed a two-phase move out of New York City to Gloucester, Massachusetts, on Boston’s North Shore. After ten years occupying two floors in the historic Blackburn Tavern (built 1810 and 1840) downtown, Bill and Patty renovated a ca. 1860 Italianate on East Main Street for our new offices. Editorial, art and production, advertising, marketing, customer, and business departments are here at “headquarters”: (978) 283-3200 [E.T.], info@oldhouseinteriors.com Additional writers, editors, and photographers work from offices around the country. The magazines are printed at The Lane Press in South Burlington, Vermont: lanepress.com
We are currently publishing four separate, printed periodicals:
6 bimonthly issues of Old-House Interiors magazine
4 quarterly issues of Arts & Crafts Homes magazine
2 biannual newsstand special editions of Early Homes magazine
